When you get a crystal, it may be new to you, but it’s been on a long journey to reach its final destination in the palms of your hands. All crystals purchased from us are cleansed before they leave our HQ because we want you to have a fresh start on your new journey with your crystals!
Just like us, crystals are constantly absorbing energy. They can get overloaded and need to be cleared so they can keep on vibin' high! Check out a few of our favourite ways to release any bad juju!
Sun and Moon Energy
Place crystals somewhere that they will be fully exposed to the energizing rays of the sun and moon. on a window ledge Even if the day is cloudy or you cannot see the moon, their rays will energize the stones as long as they are directly exposed to these elements of nature. They will normally be cleansed within 24 hours of exposure. However, stones such as black tourmaline which are being used to deflect negative energies or help release negative energies in your physical and energetic bodies, may require up to 48 hours to become fully cleansed and regenerated. Stones such as amethyst will fade in the sun so you will have to use another method for cleansing and regenerating these gemstones.
Earth Burial
Place your crystals, directly into the earth or you can place crystals into a cloth covering, preferably a natural fabric such as cotton. Leave the crystal buried for at least 24 hours to ensure that they become fully re-energized. If possible, find a spot where the soil is not being spread with chemicals through fertilizers or pesticides. This cleanses all negative energies and re-energizes the stones.
Smudging
My favourite!! If in doubt, smoke it out! Use white sage, incense, palo santo or any fresh herbs. Begin to burn it until a good strong smoke is flowing. Hold the crystal in this smoke for at least 30 seconds. This clears all negative energies that have become attached to this stone but does not energize the gem or crystal. To re-energize the stone, place it in a window so it can be exposed to the rays of the sun and moon.
Flower Water
You can also clear crystals and stones in flower water. Soak the stone or crystal in water with the petals of rose, honey suckle, orange blossoms, jasmine or others for 24 hours. You can also use prepared flower water such as pure rosewater. Again, the same cautions apply regarding stones that don't do well in water.
Using Another Crystal
You can place the crystals, on another crystal, preferably a large quartz cluster. This will clear negative energies and will also re-energize your crystals. Make sure you also cleanse and re-energize the large quartz crystal cluster regularly to ensure it retains its cleansing and re-energizing powers.
Running Water
If you are lucky enough to live where you have access to beautiful clear running water from a creek or river that you know is not polluted, place your crystals in a small container, and let the water run over them, preferably for at least 2 hours. This will cleanse and re-energize your crystals. Please do not use tap water, since it is full of chemicals. Be careful though because certain stones will actually dissolve in water, e.g. Red Selenite.
Salt Water
Some people suggest using salt water but this method can be harsh and abrasive. You need to know about your crystals to be sure that they are not porous or soft, so they won't be damaged by water. Salt water can get into the structure of some crystals and stones and cause them to break. That breakage sometimes doesn't happen immediately, but the weakened structure may break later. Some stones that don't do well in salt water are calcite, carnelian, hematite, labradorite, lepidolite, lodestone (magnetite), mica, opal, turquoise, clusters of most stones. If you do use salt water, don't leave your crystals in it longer than absolutely necessary.
Whatever cleansing methods you choose, please treat your crystals with gratitude, respect and kindness. These gifts from the earth do so much to heal at all levels including the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual levels. If you no longer want to keep a crystal or gem, gift it on or take it outside and bury it so it may return to Mother Earth.
